How Chrysal Contributes to a Sustainable Chain

Naarden – Sustainability comes first at Chrysal. With our products we are constantly working on making the chain more sustainable. We ensure less water usage and wastage; from the grower to the consumer. This is not only taking place in the chain, we also have sustainability high in our priorities in our world-wide production facilities and future plans. This is how we want to be one of the most sustainable partners in the flower industry. Ten years ago we started with Chrysal Cares, our Corporate Social Responsibility program. By using Chrysal products, significantly less water is used in the post-harvest process. During transport, the products of Chrysal ensure that flowers stay fresh even longer and therefore reducing wastage. In the store we use smart solutions to lessen our environmental impact of our packaging. For example the Bag-in-Box, our packaging which contains 70 percent less plastic. Then of course there’s our products which find their way into the consumers’ home. Our new Compostable sachet is fully compostable in the same time as a banana skin. This, as well as our products making sure that the consumer can enjoy their flowers even longer. The Compostable sachet has been nominated for a Greenovation Award 2019, an Award given to a sustainably produced product or concept. We also find the sustainability of our production facilities important. Recently we placed 898 solar panels on the roof of our business in Naarden and are constantly evaluating our production processes, looking for ways on how to make these more efficient and sustainable so we can reduce our footprint. Sustainability is in our DNA and we continue to work hard to make the chain more sustainable in order to contribute to a better world.
