Meijer announced Thursday its Royal Oak store with a smaller footprint and neighborhood feel is slated for a Jan. 29 opening. Woodward Corner Market grocery store is located at in the Woodward Corners by Beaumont development at 13 Mile and Woodward. This is the second smaller-format store for the Grand Rapids-based retailer. Its first, Bridge Street Market in Grand Rapids, opened in August 2018. “Woodward Corner Market will offer a unique shopping experience to meet the needs of our customers, and we can’t wait to open our doors,” said Natalie Rubino, the new store manager, in a news release. “We are actively engaging the community to not only be a good neighbor but also ensure we have the best products on our shelves.” [Want to know about restaurant and business openings in your area? At 41,000 square feet (a typical Meijer supercenter is about 156,000 square feet), it is the largest tenant in the overall development. The new concept store, with an urban feel and neighborhood grocer appeal, will have fresh food and produce, prepared foods, bakery items, fresh meat and deli offerings. It will also highlight more than 2,000 local, artisan items. Inside there will be a Great Lakes Coffee shop with nitro brews and an extensive beer, wine and liquor counter. The building’s facade will have six garage-style doors with outdoor a fresh produce and floral area during the warmer months.
