A walk-through peony-themed exhibit is set to be one of the highlights of the Chelsea Flower Show 2020 in May. Gold medallist nursery, Primrose Hall Peonies, is collaborating with award-winning British jewellery designer, Theo Fennell, for an exquisite display in the Great Pavilion. We’ve previously said every garden deserves at least one beautiful peony to grace its borders , and now we’re set to get it in abundance at the world’s most prestigious gardening event. Last year, Primrose Hall Peonies showcased a large bathtub overflowing with peonies for their Love Peonies exhibit (pictured above) which earned them their first RHS Chelsea gold medal . This year, however, with a collaboration celebrating British design, horticulture and craftsmanship, the Treasure Every Moment exhibit will showcase bespoke, peony-inspired jewels designed by Theo Fennell. Also on display will be a wide range of rare and unusual peonies , including from the National Collection of Itoh hybrids. Visitors will get the chance to see these extraordinary breeds up close with magnifying glasses. The collaboration has greater significance than you may think. A focal point of the exhibit will be a crafted garden sculpture modelled as an oversized ring with a swing seat. A video screen will show the evolution of the manufacturing/growing process from both the jeweller’s and grower’s perspective. Alec White, owner and nurseryman of Primrose Hall Peonies , says the collaboration ‘will bring peonies into a world they may not usually inhabit’ and will ‘highlight the synergy between the crafts’. Alec White Theo Fennell Theo Fennell , who formed his eponymous company in the late 70s, says of the partnership: ‘Our Gallery, workshop and studio have been based in Chelsea for 40 years and it is our spiritual home.
